Deck rules

Our new home has a deck on top of the garage. The first day I laid down the rules with the kids . . no climbing the railing, no running on the deck, no throwing anything off the deck . . . to which Tyler replied, "What can't we throw off the deck?"

I answered, "Anything. Don't throw anything off the deck."

But that wasn't enough for him, "But what did you think we MIGHT throw off the deck that you don't want us to?"

Seemed a good idea to try to cover any loopholes, especially with him as he is really exploring boundaries these days. So I tried to make a cover-all rule - whatever you are thinking of doing, consider is it safe and would mom want me to do it?
