For a halloween party at a friend's house, the kids were excited to dress-up in costumes of their choosing. T announced he wanted to be an "old man" (I think because of a mask he had tried on at the store with his dad). I'm not a fan of masks and want to see their adorable little faces, so we went with the old man idea, but used more creativity than a mask - white spray hair color, makeup for the pasty-wrinkled look, wire-rimmed glasses, the clothes, the houndstooth hat - he was pleased and I was, tool.
E was easy this year as well. The request was "princess". Instead of a $20 costume dress, I bought a real one at Costco for the same price and she can wear it for the holidays, church, whatever. She loved it and the new patent leather black shoes I got her to go with it. A tiara from the dress-up box and some jewelry of her choosing and she was set! The smallest boy is not E's prom date, though it looks a bit like in with that pose. :-)
