Quotables

Tyler: "I learned how to play the grown-up version of Monopoly Jr.!"

(It's all in your perspective!)

*************************

Tyler: "When you don't feel good, your cuddlies [blanket, bear] make you feel better. Well, not better like making you healthy like God does, but better - happier. And your mommy makes you feel even happier. And God makes you feel happiest of all and He makes you healthy."

(He's not sick, but this comment was made in reflecting on times of sickness. I think he overheard Emily telling me her tummy has been hurting her a lot. I was tickled to rate above the cuddlies.)

Scene: We are out getting the mail and Emily is pushing a baby doll in the toy stroller. An elderly neighbor seeking to interact with her asks her what is in her stroller. Emily switches out of pretend mode and with a casual air of dismissal, a grown-up air and a wave of the hand responds, "Oh, it's just a fake baby doll."

(Guess she didn't want the lady to think she thought the baby was real - or was she afraid the lady would be misled?)

Overheard-
Tyler: "There's a heaven and hell. I know I'm going to heaven because I believe in Jesus."
Emily, not to be left out, "I'm going to heaven, too, because I believe in God and Jesus."

One of our pastors challenged all the young people to memorize the Apostles' Creed. If they recite it to one of the elders or pastors, they can choose a prize. So we have been working on them memorizing it. Tyler now knows the first few lines but the line that he knows best and keeps trying to put it as soon as he can is, "The third day He rose again from the dead." So as we are reciting it together he keeps inserting that with emphasis after each line until its time.

. . .
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit (The third day. . )
and born of the Virgin Mary (The third day. . )
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried (the third day)
He descended into hell.
[AT LONG LAST!] The third day He arose. . . .
