Busy day today. In addition to swim lessons (see post below), we also attended the annual bike swap. It provides a place for people to bring their used bikes and accessories for others to buy. Picture a big garage sale just for bikes. Classic Bozeman event. Our first time attending and it was an experience.
That's all I'll say about that part of it. The outcome is more important in this case: new bikes. Well, new to us. Gently used, I believe is the term. Tyler has outgrown his 16" wheel bike and is ready for a 20" wheel cycle. We found one in good condition with both a hand brake and a foot brake and, thanks to help and the right size allen wrench from some good friends, the seat and handle bars are positioned correctly for him to start riding it now. I also purchased a "trail-a-bike", or "one wheeler" as the kids call it. It attaches onto the back of my bike and allows Emily to experience the balance, pedaling, etc. of a big bike but we can go longer distances. It's cool because when she does pedal, it contributes to the trip and if she is tired, she can just hang on for the ride. (See Trek's site for a picture of a similar model.) Ours is older and all red, but you get the picture. (We had been borrowing a similar model from a friend, but it was time to get our own and return theirs.)
The kids were excited for the first bikeride with our "new bikes" and so, despite the cold air, we took a spin around the neighborhood. Excellent! They both love their new bikes, and I am glad we have them and are set for a summer of riding.
