The English language, by Tyler

As Tyler was looking at some books today, he asked me what "d-e-s-i-g-n-e-r" spelled. When I told him, he corrected me - "but is has a "g" in it". True. I explained that in English there are many words that have letters you don't necessarily hear the sound of, in this case when you say the word you don't speak the g or hear it, it's only when you read or write it. "Well," he answered decidedly, "when I write that word, I'm going to leave the g out because it doesn't do anything other than look good."

Here is where you explain that if he gets rid of things that are just there to look good he will be eliminating so much of his life! There are some people who I think are just there to "look good", as they seem to be useless for so many other things. At least they look good. I'm sure there are a few people who wonder what I'm for - mostly useless and I don't even have the redeeming quality of looking good. I say save the flowers, save paintings... Save the "G's"!
